Sweet Orange and Frankincense Sniff Stick
Sometimes you don’t need something intensely minty, sharp or energising. You just want something gentle.
My Sweet Orange & Frankincense Sniff Stick combines the soft citrus aroma of Sweet Orange with the warm, resinous character of Frankincense to create a subtle, comforting aromatherapy blend.
It’s designed for those little moments when you want to slow down, take a conscious breath and create a calmer atmosphere around yourself.
Unlike some of the stronger Sniff Sticks in the range, Sweet Orange & Frankincense is deliberately subtle. Sweet Orange is a light citrus top note, while Frankincense provides a deeper, warmer base to the blend.
🧠 Did You Know?
Sweet Orange essential oil has been investigated scientifically for its potential effects on anxiety.
In a 2012 study, 40 healthy volunteers inhaled Sweet Orange essential oil before completing an anxiety-provoking task. Participants exposed to Sweet Orange aroma showed responses that the researchers described as consistent with an acute anxiolytic effect, although the authors stressed that further research is needed to understand its clinical relevance. Research into inhalation aromatherapy more broadly has also produced encouraging results. A 2023 systematic review of 76 studies involving 6,539 participants found that more than 70% reported a positive effect on anxiety in aromatherapy groups compared with controls, although the researchers highlighted significant variation between studies and the need for better standardisation. This Sniff Stick is an aromatherapy wellbeing product rather than a treatment for anxiety or any medical condition.
How Aromatherapy Inhalation Works
When you smell an essential oil, volatile aromatic molecules interact with the olfactory system — the sensory system responsible for smell.
The olfactory system has close connections with areas of the brain involved in emotion and memory, which is one reason researchers have become increasingly interested in the potential psychological effects of aroma.
A personal inhaler gives you a convenient way to experience an aroma whenever you want a short aromatic ritual, without diffusing essential oils into the whole room.
Essential Oils in Sweet Orange & Frankincense
Why Sweet Orange?
Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) has a light, fresh and gently sweet citrus aroma.
Its scent is bright without being overpowering, making it particularly suited to blends intended to feel comforting and uplifting.
Sweet Orange aroma has also been investigated in human research looking at anxiety responses, with preliminary findings suggesting a possible calming effect from inhalation.
Why Frankincense?
Frankincense has a warm, resinous and softly earthy aroma.
It has a long history of use in incense, meditation and aromatic practices, and provides a deeper base note that complements the lighter Sweet Orange beautifully.
In this blend, Frankincense helps create a more rounded aroma, preventing the citrus from feeling overly sweet or sharp.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sweet Orange & Frankincense a strong scent?
No. This is intentionally one of the softer and more subtle blends in the Sniff Stick collection. Sweet Orange is a light top note and Frankincense provides a gentle resinous base.
Why does the Sweet Orange scent fade more quickly?
Citrus essential oils contain highly volatile aromatic compounds, which evaporate more readily than many heavier essential oils. As a result, the bright Sweet Orange note may gradually become softer, particularly once the inhaler has been opened and used regularly. Keeping the cap securely closed and storing it somewhere cool and dark will help preserve the aroma.
When should I use it?
Whenever you want a gentle aromatic pause. Relaxing at home, taking a break from work, traveling, journalling, meditating or winding down at the end of the day.
How long does a nasal inhaler last?
The longevity of your inhaler depends on frequency of use, but most users find it remains aromatic for several months when stored correctly with the cap securely in place.
Is this a medical treatment?
No. Sniff Sticks are an an aromatherapy wellbeing product designed for the enjoyment of essential oils via inhalation. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.
