Welcoming the oils into your home (spiritually) & where to store them
Bringing essential oils into your space invites more than scent: it invites ritual, presence and care.
Here are a few suggestions:
Choose a place you visit often—a shelf near your diffuser, a dresser in your restful room, or a little wooden tray next to your favourite armchair. Treat the oils as tiny herbal companions.
When you reach for the bottle, pause for a moment: breathe in, feel the season, set an intention: “I breathe in clarity,” or “I invite warmth.” This helps shift from simply aroma to meaningful ritual.
Storage matters: To preserve potency, keep your oils away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dark spot, tightly capped. Essential oils are volatile and their aromatic compounds can degrade with heat, light and air exposure.
Store them upright (to prevent leakage), and away from high-heat zones (radiators, windowsills).
By caring for them, you honour the plants, and honour yourself.- It’s so important that they are kept out or reach of children and pets.
Diffuser Blends
Here are some favourite diffuser recipes using your oils:
“Morning Refresh”: Lemon (2 drops) + Eucalyptus (2 drops) + Tea Tree (1 drop) — great first thing to freshen the air and uplift the spirits.
“Calm Before Bed”: Lavender (4 drops) + Lemon (1 drop) — gentle, restful, soothing.
“Cold-Season Clear Air”: Eucalyptus (2 drops) + Tea Tree (2 drops) + Lavender (1 drop)
+ Lemon (1 drop) — diffuse for 30 minutes, then switch off for 30 minutes, repeat if desired.
*DO NOT DO THIS WITH PETS IN THE ROOM*“Zesty Uplift”: Lemon (4 drops) + Lavender (2 drops) — a cheerful scent to brighten the room.
Diffusing tip: Add your drops according to your diffuser’s water capacity (for example, 100 ml water + total drops as above), run for 30–60 minutes, then pause for fresh air.
Safety note: Always follow the manufacturer instructions for your diffuser, and ensure good ventilation in the room.
Blocked up?
Boil approximately 1 litre of water and pour into a heat-proof bowl placed on a stable, flat surface.
Add 2-3 drops of Eucalyptus oil (you may also add 1 drop Tea Tree if desired).
Sit comfortably at the table, lean over the bowl (keep your face a safe distance from the water), then drape a towel over your head and the bowl to create a tent for the vapour.
Close your eyes, inhale the warm aromatic steam slowly and deeply for about 5-10 minutes. If any discomfort, reduce time or step away.
After you finish, remove the towel, allow the steam to dissipate, take a few gentle breaths, then wipe the face if any condensation or oil residue is present.
